Basuki Suspects the Collapsed Facade was Sabotage

Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama asks for help to an independent team to investigate the cause of the collapsed facade of City Hall Block G building that happened on Thursday (8/28) afternoon. The team consists of experts from renowned universities in Indonesia, such as University of Indonesia (UI) and Institute Technology of Bandung (ITB).

If the investigation result didn’t make sense, the police would see it as sabotage

“I want to know technically (why the facade collapsed). Yesterday’s incident still doesn’t make sense. If the investigation result didn’t make sense, the police would see it as sabotage,” stated Basuki, Friday (8/29).

From the investigation done by the independent team, it can be known objectively why the facade collapsed.

Facade of City Hall Block G Building Collapsed

“Did the bolts were removed intentionally? There was no wind yesterday. But, the bolts detached and the facade collapsed from the top floor,” he uttered.

According to Basuki, PT Jaya Konstruksi as the party that installed the facade is ready to fully responsible on the damages caused by the collapsed facade.

“PT Jaya Konstruksi guarantees to repair everything and pays for the damages caused by the collapsed facade.

In addition, Basuki also asks for other buildings that used the same facade to be checked as well. That includes Jakarta Parliament (DPRD) building.

“If the investigation result said the facades in other buildings were not safe, they will be removed immediately so they won’t jeopardize people,” he asserted.
